Welsh Culture

We are fiercely proud of our Welsh inheritance and constantly look for ways to celebrate it. Our involvement in European Education provided an ideal platform for this, as does enjoying fully our St David's Day and our Local Heritage.

Under the National Curriculum Welsh is taught as a second language at Pen Pych. The development begins in the Nursery with games, rhymes and songs and is further developed through e.g. topics on the weather, favourite activities and sports etc.

We rely on our links with advisory staff for advice and support. From September 2001 we will have a peripatetic Welsh Teacher employed throughout our Cluster of schools in North Rhondda. She will help us considerably in our teaching of Welsh.
