General Aims A school should be a place where children can express themselves. It therefore follows that the child's time in school should incorporate within it opportunities to display whatever abilities and talents that they possess. Whatever a child finds as being of a 'natural ability' to them, whether that be of an academic, practical, artistic or sporting nature, they should find a means to develop that ability within the schools curriculum. At Pen Pych our paramount aim is to create a happy, secure atmosphere which enables a wide variety of learning experiences to flourish. This atmosphere should reflect the partnership between home, school and the community and should challenge and promote the interest of the child. We want to enable your child to develop a range of skills and abilities both academic, practical and social which will equip him/her for the future in a rapidly changing world. Whilst at Pen Pych we expect high standards of behaviour born out of self respect, respect for others and increasing self reliance and powers of reasoning. We expect all at Pen Pych to promote equality of opportunity and respect for all whatever their race, sex or disability. We hope the children will preserve their own cultural identity within Wales, while at the same time promoting an understanding of and a respect for other cultures and creeds. We believe in the value of the individual and and in promoting work and support for the group, the class and the school as the 'Pen Pych' family. As children, parents, teachers, governors and the community working together, we would hope that the quality of work and behaviour as well as our internal and external environments reflect this aim of promoting the fullest development of every child. |
